Comment Located in the constellation Puppis resides the large planetary nebula RCW24 (aka PN G258.5-01.3, BRAN 147 A/B). The nebula was originally catalogued as a HII region given its angular size and close proximity to the Vela Supernova Remnant (VNR), however in 1997 it was found to be a bipolar planetary nebula. The nebula displays typical bipolar features such as the two symmetrical wedge shaped structures which surround an 18th magnitude central star. RCW24 resides approximately 3,300 light years away.
